Lease Creation

What is this?

This is the final step that converts a fully signed lease envelope into an active lease record in your system.

When should I use it?

Use this process after all required parties have signed and envelope status is Signed.

Prerequisites

Before creating the lease, confirm:

  • Envelope status is Signed.
  • Final signed PDF was reviewed.
  • Required move-in funds are collected or scheduled per policy.

Step-by-step instructions

Path A: From Lease Section

  1. Open Lease envelope from sidebar.
  2. Find the target property or applicant.
  3. Locate envelope with status Signed.
  4. Open envelope details.

Path B: From Applications Section

  1. Open Applications.
  2. Select approved applicant.
  3. Click Create Lease.

Final steps (common)

  1. Click View Document and verify final signed PDF details.
  2. Click Create Lease only if all details are correct.
  3. Confirm active lease creation and portal/rent schedule activation.

Example scenario

Situation: Tenant and manager signed lease for Unit 202 and status is Signed.

Solution in Rent Matrix:

  1. Open signed envelope from lease list or application.
  2. Review signed PDF for dates, rent, and addendums.
  3. Click Create Lease.
  4. Verify tenant shows Current Lease and unit status becomes occupied.
